As the energy-efficient trend continues in the United States, more and more consumers will take up gardening as a hobby and as a way to ensure their landscaping is reducing, not enlarging, their carbon footprint. As people become aware of the beauty of gardening and the ability to control water and pests naturally, without expending unnecessary resources to keep a beautiful yard, perhaps there will be less competition over green, expansive lawns and more focus on helping to create a strong ecosystem just outside the front or back door. In the years to come, our ideas about landscaping a suburban house may change significantly, which will increase the demand for specialty gardeners who can offer better options and who can help to create a beautiful footprint.
