The California Department of Public Health, a state department responsible for public health, convinced members of priority populations of the COVID-19 vaccine's safety, efficacy and importance.

Let's get to immunity.

They say viruses don't discriminate, and that's true. Anyone could get sick with COVID-19. From all walks of life, people did.

But COVID didn't hit all populations equally.

After a year when the eyes of the world turned toward civil rights in America, COVID was disproportionately killing people of color, who were more likely to be doing the essential jobs that kept the world turning, and kept them in harm's way.
